My whole life I’ve been an over analyzer. I over analyze, over think, and over react. I make sure I’m prepared for every outcome, good or bad. I prepare myself for heartache, for rejection, and very rarely, something awesome. I often find myself begging my brain to shut off, to just let me be, to not let me dig myself deeper in to a ‘everything stinks’ hole. Over my vast 25 years on this planet, I’ve come to know, over analyzing doesn’t make the heartache hurt less or the disappointment easier, but it does make me ill. It turns me into a sullen and irrational creature. This year, I’m trying to change, to make myself forget about analyzing every word, every action, but rather, let the joy (or the heartache) come.
This image was inspired by the nest I found in the woods. I wanted an image that portrayed the characteristics, as I see them, of the nest. I wanted to create an image that was dark, had a sense of danger, a bit whimsical, and has delicate beauty. I’ve been rather satisfied with my work as of late after keeping my resolution to create the way I want to create and I hope the trend is here to stay.
The original idea for this image is not what you see here. The gist of it is still the same, but my idea more or less, failed. However, I do not consider this image to be a failure, but a triumph. I became inspired while retouching and created an image that still encompassed the original idea. Failure isn’t failure unless you allow it to be.
I used some new techniques with this image and I’m proud of myself for achieving something a year ago I wouldn’t have attempted. I always want to improve and grow. I never want my work to be stagnant or mediocre.

Here is a speed edit video for this image! I forgot to start recording from the very beginning, but next time I will! (Also, you can stop watching at the 3:00 mark. There’s nothing but music after that. whoops!)
